On Saturday, September 21, 2024, the world lost a beautiful soul. At just 45 years old, Erika Cecilia (Pescina) Montesnieto peacefully departed this life, surrounded by the love her family, embarking on her journey to a heavenly home.
Erika was born on February 15, 1979, in Monterrey, Mexico, to Cecilo and Elia Pescina and was adopted by her uncle and aunt, Gregorio and Paula Kay Pescina. With dreams of a brighter future for their little girl, her parents moved the family to America, where Erika would grow and flourish. As a student at Tarkington ISD, she not only excelled academically but also created lifelong friendships, earning the distinction of being voted "most unforgettable" and this held true her entire life.
Erika found her soulmate in Aaron Montesnieto. Embracing her role as a devoted wife of a Navy serviceman, she navigated the challenges of military life with grace. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Lexie and Stacie, nurturing a loving home steeped in support and encouragement. Erika’s commitment to her family was unwavering; she was a constant presence at every school function, wholeheartedly supporting her girls in their activities, from dance team to band.
Her passion for helping others led her to graduate college and become a registered nurse. In this role, she touched countless lives with her compassion and dedication, always going above and beyond for those in her care.
Erika had a unique sense of humor, as she fondly described herself as “weird.” Yet it was these quirks and authenticity that endeared her to many. She was a beacon of positivity, radiating kindness and encouragement, even in life’s toughest moments. A devoted Christian, Erika’s faith inspired those around her, and we take comfort in knowing she has now taken her rightful place in heaven.
Erika was truly a bright shining light in the lives of all who knew her. Her laughter, love, and spirit will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and the community she steadfastly served. As we grieve her loss, we celebrate a life filled with love, service, and unwavering faith.
Erika is preceded in death by her mother Paula Pescina; father Cecilo Ibarra; grandparents Ophelia and Curtis Walker; great-aunt Eva McDaniels; and cousin Michelle Spears. She is survived by her husband, Aaron Montesnieto; daughters Alexandria Elise “Lexie” Montesnieto and Erin Anastacia “Stacie” Montesnieto; father, Gregorio Pescina; mother, Elia Pescina; sisters Elia Edith Torres and Xochitl Torres; brothers Alex Ibarra and Luis Martin Torres; along with numerous other family members and cherished friends.
