On the evening of March 26th, 2016 Eric Brighteyes “E.B.” Neuman, Jr. age 83 was called home by his Heavenly Father. He died peacefully at his home in Dayton, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Dayton with interment to follow at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held Monday, March 28, 2016 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.
E.B. was born on October 23, 1932 in Dayton, Texas, Liberty County. He was the third son of Ada Gertrude and Eric Brighteyes “Lett” Neuman, Sr. He married Shirley Joyce Preston in 1952. E.B. was a lifelong resident of Dayton, Texas except for short stints in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and a couple of places in Louisiana. He graduated from Texas A&M College in 1968 with a Bachelors in Agriculture Economics. E.B. worked for Riviana Rice Company in Houston, Texas for close to 15 years, then Baker Hughes and Huntsman Chemical in Dayton for the remainder of his work career. He retired in 1998. He loved to fly and was recognized for his 33 years as a civil air patrolman pilot. E.B. also enjoyed spending time with his family, ranching, cowboying and deer hunting (not necessarily in that order). His life changed dramatically in the early 1980’s when he started a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and he truly liked to tell others about Jesus; how that relationship had changed his life and encouraging others to seek Jesus. E.B. always had a great story to tell because his life was so full!
He was preceded in death by his parents E.B. “Lett” and Gertrude Ada Neuman, brothers Bert and Jesse Neuman, and sister Dora Ada Carmichael. E.B. is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Neuman of Dayton; brothers, Franky Neuman of Morgan, Larry Neuman & wife Ilene of Dayton and Mutt Neuman & wife Judy of Dayton; his sons, Kyle Neuman & wife Terry of Fort Worth, Eric B. “Nandy” Neuman & wife Mandi of Dayton; grandchildren, Dusty and Stephanie Neuman, Daisy and Gene Watson, Cristy and Robert Barboza, and “Rudy” Ruben and Jessica Neuman; step grandson, Adam and Kelley Speer; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
