Emile Rene Stevens

Emile Rene Stevens, Sr., 74, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 in the comfort of his home that he shared with his daughter, son-in-law and two of his grandchildren, after a brief illness. Emile was born to Chester Leroy Stevens (1907-1971) and Jeanette Marie Mazoyer (1909-1996) on September 12, 1939 in New York. Emile met and married his beloved wife, Emily Joan Barker (1943-2003) on March 1, 1963 in New York. In 1979 he, his wife, their children along with their nephew, Randy, relocated to Texas. Emile found work at Union Tank Car Company in Cleveland, Texas. He quickly moved into a supervisor position where he became loved and respected by many. Soon after the death of his wife in 2003 he retired from UTC. Emile loved to hunt, fish, and read. He had a passion for music, and you would often hear him whistling. Emile enjoyed spending time on his computer and watching TV, especially Wheel-of-Fortune. Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Jeanette; his wife, Emily; his brother, Chester and a daughter-in-law, Vicki. He is survived by his son, Jay Barker and wife Lori of Wurtsboro, NY; his son, Keith Stevens and wife Tami of Stevensville, MI; his son, Matthew Stevens and wife Pam of Shepherd; his son, Emile Stevens, Jr. and wife Lauren of Dalzell, SC; his daughter, Ginger Cherry and husband Curtis of Willis, TX; his daughter, Jessie Roost and husband Jim of New Waverly, TX. He is also survived by nine grandsons, Jonathan, Cole and wife Megan, Evan, Justin and wife Amanda, Brandon and wife Kelly, Blake and wife Christina, Shelby, Dalton, and Chance; and three granddaughters, Tiffany, Amy, Lillian; and three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Dylan, and Ryan; brother, Fred Mazoyer and wife Alice of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Elizabeth Mabee and husband John of Warwick, NY and Margaret Powers of Folsom, LA; also numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, 303 East Crockett St., Cleveland, Texas. Friends may gather with the family to pay their respects and bid farewell to Emile. Per Emile’s request, there will be no graveside services.
