Elvin Brown, 66, of Dayton died Monday, June 7, 2010 in Devers. He was born March 1, 1944 in Goose Creek, Texas to parents: Robert Elliot and Rachel Ellen Barnett Brown. He had been a longtime resident of the Dayton area where he was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He had worked for Builders Square and Suburban Homes before retiring. Elvin enjoyed cooking, yard work and going to garage sales. He loved his family especially the grandchildren. Services for Mr. Brown will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lamar Shane officiating. Interment will follow at Linney Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00, Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Dwayne Brown, Greg Brown, Eugene Brown, Britt Andress, Gene Martin, and John Bishop. Honorary Pallbearers are his grandchildren: Casey, Erica, Skylar, Shane, Ashleigh, and Blake; also his special friend Junior. Elvin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Richard Brown. He is survived by his wife of 46 years: Betty Butcher Brown of Dayton; his sons: Dwayne Brown and wife Cindy of Hardin, Greg Brown & wife Lisa of Sour Lake, and Eugene Brown of Dayton; his six grandchildren: Casey, Erica, Shane, Skylar, Ashleigh, and Blake; his sisters: Velva Jean Martin of Dayton; Vivian Blankenship of Pittsburgh, and Theresa Brown of Jacksonville, MS; his brothers: J. D. Brown of Three Rivers, Clayton Brown of Dayton, Doug Brown of Tarkington, and Melvin Brown of Pittsburgh.
