Elsie Weatherly Brumley, 86, of Old River, died in her home, on Friday, May 29, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Mrs. Brumley was born on May 12, 1929. She is a former resident of Pasadena, Los Angeles, Galveston, Nashville, and New Orleans. For the past 28 years she has resided in Old River, Texas, where she owned a successful accounting and tax preparation service. She especially enjoyed working with children and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years at the Old River Baptist and Midway Baptist churches. Mrs. Brumley served as an officer in the Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She was also devoted to gardening and needlework. Mrs. Brumley was preceded in death by her husband, Joe R. Brumley, her parents and several siblings. She is survived by her daughter: Tamatha Brumley of Old River, sister: Alexandria Ruby of Nashville, Tennessee, and numerous other relatives, and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those interested in honoring Mrs. Brumley's life to make a contribution to Sterling Municipal Library or any other non-profit organization of their choice.
