Elnora Cooper Snyder, 95, of Liberty, TX died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at the Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Liberty with services concluding thereafter. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Elnora was born July 21, 1918 in Bremen, IN, to parents; Ira and Nellie Smith Cooper. She and her husband, Charles Clinton Snyder, Sr resided in Osceola, IN from their marriage in1936 thru 1983. Mrs. Snyder was a home maker and she took an active role in her three son's lives. She served several times as a room mother for her children's schools, and she was a Cub Scout Den Mother for all three boys. She was also active in various school programs, such as the PTA. In 1965, she went to work for the South Bend YMCA, and worked in their Restaurant and Banquet Food Service. In 1979, she and her husband retired and started wintering in southern Texas, and by 1983 they sold their Indiana home and moved to Alamo, Texas. They lived there until they moved to Liberty, Texas in 1997. Mrs. Snyder was a charter member of Osceola Chapter #598 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 64 years and served in various offices and different committees. Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by her parents: Ira and Nellie Smith Cooper; sisters: Irene Lewis and Miriam Wigent; brothers: Roy and Robert Cooper, and grandsons: Mark, Brian, and Mike Snyder. She is survived by her husband of 78 years: Charles C. “Si” Snyder, Sr. of Liberty, TX; sons: Charles C. “Chuck” Snyder, Jr. and wife Doris of Liberty, TX, Richard D. Snyder and wife Ann of Friendswood, TX, and Edward L. Snyder and wife Lisane of New Columbia, PA; brother-in-law: James H. Snyder, Jr. and wife Nancy of Mishawaka, IN, and twelve grandchildren: Sally Caffee of Acworth, GA; Scott Snyder of Lubbock, TX; Jennifer McCarty of Liberty, TX; Donna Joiner of Liberty, TX; Kennie Simmons of Liberty, TX; Tommy Simmons of Lubbock, TX; Richard Snyder, Jr of Dayton, OH; Angela Griffith of Pearland, TX; Jennifer Grove of Williamsburg, VA; Julie Buffington of Friendswood, TX; Charles Snyder of Sandy Hook, CT; and Alan Snyder of Philadelphia, PA. She is also survived by 29 great-grandchildren, 23 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
