Mr. Abshire had been a resident of Dayton for the past 52 years after moving from Louisiana. He grew up in a musical atmosphere, loved to dance, listen to the guitar, and loved Cajun music. He was a hard worker, did a honest day’s work and whatever he did, he did to the fullest. He taught his sons how to work for what they had and not depend on others. Mr. Abshire was not a selfish man and everyone he met loved him. He will be missed by all who knew him and will always be remembered as the hard working and honest man that he was.
Mr. Abshire was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clifton Abshire; infant sister, Vivian Abshire; half-sister, Lillian and half-brother, Austin. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ethel M. Abshire of Dayton; sons, Craig Abshire and wife Cyndie of Dayton, Terry Abshire and wife Debbie of Dayton, Justin Abshire and wife Veronica of Dayton; grandchildren, Christina Butcher, Casey Abshire, Jennifer Abshire, Jeremy Abshire, Nathan Abshire and Natalie Abshire; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Abshire, Dakota Day, Gracie Butcher, Grant Butcher, and Griffin Butcher; sisters, Anna David, Pearlie Guidry, Norma Jean Sonnier and husband Jerry; brothers, Ophed Abshire and wife Nola and Leroy Abshire and wife Mary; also many other family members and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
