Ellen Katherine Remsing

Ellen Katherine Remsing, 92, of Dayton passed away September 8, 2017.
Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Chapel of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Services for Katherine will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Chapel of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, followed by Interment at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton, Texas.
Katherine was born December 29, 1924 in Security, Texas to parents, Clyde and Melinda Jane Kelley Sprayberry. Moving to Dayton as an infant, she attended Dayton schools and graduated in the class of 1942. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Dayton and the Ladies IV Sunday School Class. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. A 56 year member of the Order of The Eastern Star, she served as Worthy Matron of the Dayton Chapter #233 and as treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Liberty-Dayton Chapter #634 and Mont Belvieu Chapter #1142. She served on the Board of Advisors of the Rainbow Girls Dayton Chapter and as Mother Advisor. She received the Grand Cross of Colors for her work with the girls. Katherine was a talented artist. She loved drawing, oil painting, and china painting, as well as pottery and ceramics.
Mrs. Remsing was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, William J. Remsing; son, William R. Remsing; brothers, Kelley and Clifford Sprayberry; and nephew, Donald Sprayberry. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Remsing of Dayton; sons, Dale Remsing and wife Minnie of Pueblo, Colorado, and Daryl Remsing of Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren, Randy, Kevin, Kendall, and Kristie; nieces, Cristine Stichler and Suzanne Sprayberry; several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous other relatives and friends.
