Ella Weese Martin

Ella Weese Ford Martin, 87, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at the Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2014, at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with burial following at Acie Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m., Friday, at the church prior to services. Services are entrusted to Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Ella was born August 10, 1927 in Dayton, to parents; Thomas J. and Willie Love Ford, and has been a lifelong resident of Dayton. She was a retired housekeeper after 40 years of service with Dr. Jack Manning. While a lifelong member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, she was also former secretary, Sunday school teacher, superintendent, and junior choir matron. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, and attending church. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 32 years: David N. Martin, and brothers: Thomas W. Ford, Leon Ford, Herman Love, Thomas Ford, and George W. Ford. She is survived by her sons: Willie Phillips of North Carolina and Wilford Richard, Jr. and wife Vickie of Baytown; sister: Beatrice Payne of Dayton; sister-in-law: Orelia Ford of Dayton; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren, and of host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
