Edward L. “Ed” Everett, Jr., 64, of Evergreen, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland with services concluding thereafter. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland. Ed was born November 27, 1949, in Houston, was a former resident of Montgomery, and has resided in the Evergreen area for the past 25 years. He was a graduate of Milby High School and a veteran of the US Marine Corps with service during the Vietnam War. Mr. Everett was owner and operator of a hot-shot transportation service. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, cooking, and will be fondly remembered as a great story teller. Mr. Everett was preceded in death by his mother, Betty R. Spoon Matthews, and his stepfather, James T. Matthews. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debra McClain Everett, of Evergreen; sons, Edward “Lorne” Everett, and wife Brandi of Coldspring, and Morgan Thomas Everett, and wife Megan of Midland; brother, Marvin “Bruce” Matthews of Conroe; grandchildren: Brandon Kelly, Dylan Kelly, Cody Everett, Dylan Krause, Trent Krause, McKenna Everett, and Jackson Everett; nephews, Jason, J. D. Donny, Rocky, Orin, and Clint; nieces, Jennifer, Danita, Elizabeth, and Symoni; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
