Edward Bertral “Bert” Simmons, age 86 of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016. He was born March 25, 1930 in Ballard Co., KY to parents Harold Dean Simmons and Cozette Stovall who he is preceded in death by.
Mr. Simmons served in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1957. He was a registered professional civil engineer and surveyor. He worked for Brown and Root for 25 years. He was the director of public works for the city of Pasadena. He opened Simmons Engineering and Surveying in Coldspring.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Charmaine Simmons; daughters, Alisa Eckeberger and husband John, Sheri Hoff and husband Greg; sons, David and wife Christy, Danny and wife Deborah, Gene and wife Rebecca; sister, Shirley Cooper; brothers, Don and wife Carolyn, Steve, Wayne and wife Meme, Terry and wife Ruth; grandchildren, Daniel and wife Becky, Chris and wife Angela, Jacob and wife Katie, Bryan and wife Amy, Brittany and husband Josh, Michael and wife Brandi and Forrest; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Brinley, Owen, Clarke, London, Ezekiel, Lydiann, Jasmine and Bentley; numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, Texas. Services will 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Coldspring, Texas. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Coldspring, Texas. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Coldspring Building Fund.
