Edgar Jerrell “Bubba” Groce was born on August 2, 1936, and went to be with the Lord on December 3, 2010 around 5:00 p.m. in his home in Cleveland, TX. He was an entrepreneur who began a career in landscaping in the 1960’s. He attended Sam Houston State University, and later became a Certified Landscape Architect. He started his greenhouse manufacturing company, Rounhouse Corporation, in 1970. His family business continued to grow throughout the United States and foreign markets. He was active in local and state politics throughout his adult life, and a member of Pin Oak Baptist Church. He was involved in numerous community and student organizations through being a long time buyer at Cleveland Dairy Day, Trinity Valley Exposition, and supported Cleveland Independent School District, Cleveland Senior Citizen Organization as well as many other community organizations. His life was focused on helping his family, friends, and business. He never met a stranger and his love was shared by many both near and far. The love for his family was deeply rooted in his daily life and will reach into generations that will continue to grow and prosper. He may have been taken from this Earth, but his memories and love will continue to grow and will never be forgotten by so many. A man of many names: Edgar, Bubba, Daddy, Gindaddy, Granddaddy, D-Daddy, Uncle Bubba, and Big Daddy may have been a few of the names we remember, but his legacy and memories will be with all of us forever. Until we meet again, “I’ll be lookin’ at y’all later” will forever ring in the minds of many. He is survived by his wife Bettie Groce and children Rhonda Groce Steede and husband Jim Steede, Sonda Groce Green and husband Chip Green, Jay Groce and wife Mary Jane Groce. Grandchildren: Tarah Steede Kasha, Brandon Green, Tiffany Green, Ryan Steede, Evan Steede, Carly Groce, and Garett Groce. Great-Grandchildren: Steven Kasha and Paige Kasha. Brothers and sisters: Billy Joe Groce, Evelyn Johnston, Ellen Ann Page, Charles Pelly Groce, and Debbie Gilley, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special friends: D’Wayne and Judy Briggs. He is preceded in death by his father Willie Groce and mother Vera Taylor Groce.
