Douglas "Dj" Joe Mclendon

McLENDON
Douglas Joe (DJ) McLendon passed away September 21, 2011. He was born January 28, 1932 in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Preceded in death by parents Lonas and Ella McLendon, sister, Gussie Joe Lippman and granddaughter, Katie Mae Helen Hughes.
He leaves behind his wife Esther McLendon; sisters, Rhedus Deardorff and, Hilda Davenport and brother Cecil McLendon; children: Wesley Simpson and wife Cyndi; Cynthia Barton and husband Jimmy; Mike Simpson and wife Pam; Rebecca Knoles and husband Rick; Ella Pinkerton and fiancé Jay Neutzler. Grandchildren: Debra Lawler, Christina Simpson-Salazar, Michelle Simpson, Brett Lane, Daniel Pinkerton, David Simpson, Billy Joe Hughes, Jennifer Simpson and Ryan Knoles. Great Grandchildren: Vincent Carswell, Bridget Lawler, Michael LaCourt, Emily LaCourt, Taylor Thompson, Joshua Cooper and Conner Holt.
DJ came to Texas from Mississippi in 1953 where he met and married Esther Legate. He worked in the trucking business for 28 years and retired in 1993. He was active in his church and community. DJ loved to camp and spend time with family and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 25, 2011, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Graveside services will be held Monday, September 26, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
