Douglas Carl Tinkle, Sr.

Douglas Carl Tinkle, Sr., 82, of Dayton passed away peacefully on July 18, 2018 in Liberty, Texas. He was born May 8, 1936 in Timpson, Texas to parents William Lonnie Tinkle, Sr. and Thelma Fay Magness Tinkle.

Service for Doug will be 12:00 Noon, Friday, July 20, 2018 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday morning at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Tinkle, Mike Tinkle, John Tinkle, Judd Tinkle, Lane Tinkle, and Keith Tinkle.

Doug grew up in East Texas and had been a long time resident of Dayton. He was a carpenter by trade and was well known for his ability to create just about anything from wood. Doug loved to barbeque and he and his wife Eula were owners of the Bar-B-Q Pit where they made many friends through the years. He also enjoyed listening to sports on the radio in his shop while working on one of his projects; frying fish for friends and sharing his tomatoes and oranges. Doug had an extensive collection of arrowheads that he was very proud of. He and Eula also own the Old and New Shop.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William “Bill” Tinkle, Jr. and sister, Corine Tinkle. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Eula Tinkle of Dayton; his three sons, Douglas Carl Tinkle, Jr. and wife Jane of Moss Hill, Mike Tinkle and wife Ellen of Hardin, John Tinkle and wife Cindy of Hardin; step-daughter, Connie Hatcher Johnston of Dayton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step-son, Bradley Hatcher and wife Chris of London; sister, Patricia Finley of Hardin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Magnolia Place Healthcare and Kindred Hospice for the loving care they gave during Doug's stay.
