Dorothy Virginia May Cornelius, 80, of Liberty died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in Humble, Texas.

She was born April 21, 1932 in Liberty, Texas to parents Lou and Emma May. She was a lifelong resident of this area and attended Hardin High School. She was a member of the Heights Baptist Church, volunteered for all the meals at church, enjoyed doing crafts and tending her garden but most of all she loved being with her family.


Graveside service for Mrs. Cornelius or "Aunt Cupie" as she was known by many will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2012 at Fairlawn Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mrs. Cornelius was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 34 years, Guy M. Cornelius, and sisters: Nadine Ross and Jewel Payne. She is survived by daughter, Sharon Wells and husband Keith of Liberty; grandchildren Brandy M. Parker and husband Calvin, Heather D. Carter and husband Les, and Courtney E. Wells; great-grandchildren: Logan T. and Lacee P. Carter; sister: Maxine Ray of Cleveland; also numerous other relatives and friends.
