Dorothy Mae Neal Brister, age 82, of Dolen, Texas died at her home on February 25, 2012. She was born October 13, 1929 in Dolen, Texas, daughter of the late William and Della Alexander Neal. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1946 and began nursing school at the Houston Medical Center in 1947. She worked as a nurse at Leggett Memorial Hospital during the 1950s. She also completed an X-ray technician program in Colorado and became the first certified X-ray technician in Cleveland. She happily sacrificed her career when she married Horton Brister on June 9, 1958 and devoted the remainder of her life to her family. Mrs. Brister was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Neal; grandson, Richard Brister; and her husband, Horton Brister. She is survived by her brother, Sam Neal and wife Patsy of Dolen; daughter, Tena Minx and husband, Larry of Dolen; daughter, Loretha Bumbaugh and husband Scott of Huntsville; son Neal Brister and wife Lori of Dolen, daughter Laureen Milazzo and husband Robert of St. Augustine, Florida; son, Glenn Brister and wife Tonja of Dolen; 13 grandchildren – Melissa Dinkins Murillo, Alicia Brister Hallum, Joshua Milazzo, Zachary Bumbaugh, Michelle Milazzo Piatt, Amanda Brister, Nicholas Bumbaugh, Jared Milazzo, Kourtney Chorman, Brittney Chorman, Ethan Brister, Lydia Brister, and Foster Brister; and 8 great-grandchildren. The family will welcome friends for visitation Tuesday, February 28, 2012, 6:00-8:00 p.m., Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 29, 2012 10:00 a.m. at the Cleveland Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Cleveland, Texas with interment at the Cleveland Memorial Cemetery.
