Dorothy Amelia Tanton

Dorothy Amelia Tanton, 78, of Liberty passed away on August 9, 2021, in Winnie, Texas. Dorothy was born February 1, 1943, in Baytown, Texas to parents Lawrence Alton Coker and Colon Renfro Coker.

Dorothy had been a resident of Liberty most of her life. She was a member of the Bibleway Church. Dorothy loved her family and especially being with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Tanton was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cooter Tanton, her brothers, James and Charles Coker and her sister Betty Coker. She is survived by her children, Deanna Johnson and husband Tim, Stacy Dowdell and husband Mike, Bo Tanton and wife Mary, and Wendy Fregia; her grandchildren, Brandon, Kristina and Jim, Jennifer and Rodney, Angel and Kenneth, Cody and Courtney, Lacy and B.J. and Mikey; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Coker; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside service for Dorothy will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2021, at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Dowdell, Brandon Johnson, Cody Fregia, B.J. Miller, Tim Johnson, Jim Parker, Kenneth Peeler, Rodney Parker and Mikey Dowdell. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
