Doris “Sue” Marie Craig Rhodes, 82, of Pasadena died Sunday, March 26, 2017.
Sue was born September 19, 1934 in Dayton, Texas to parents George and Ethelyn Linney Craig. Sue attended Dayton schools where she played athletics and proudly shared with family and friends that she went to state as a member of the Tennis team. She was a resident of Pasadena for more than 50 years where she and her late husband, Curtis raised their family. Sue worked as a realtor in Deer Park for close to four decades receiving many sales awards. She enjoyed the interaction and just recently retired and gave up her broker’s license in 2015. She was an avid volunteer at Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena where she served for 10 years and proudly earned 3,739 volunteer hours.
“Granny” loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as all her family. She could often be found transporting her loved ones around town or cheering her great-children at their many sporting activities. She loved to drive fast and had speeding tickets to prove it. She was often teased and referred to by loved ones as “the Little Old Lady from Pasadena”.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Curtis Rhodes. Sr., daughter, Linnie Jo Rhodes, and grandsons, Justin Griffin and Timothy Betros. She is survived by son, Curtis “Dusty” Rhodes, Jr. and wife Linda; daughter, Susan Jack and long-time partner, Laura Bye; brother, Donald Craig; grandchildren Jaime Parham and husband Robby, Matthew Jack and wife Rae, Amanda Croix and husband Donny, Nicholas Betros and wife Pam, Whitney Betros, and Allison Gregory and husband Tyler; step-grandsons, Rand E. Riggle and Jeffrey Riggle; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives, a host of friends, and her very special friend, her dog, Rudy.
Visitation for Mrs. Rhodes will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2017 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Pace-Stancil and interment will follow at Linney Cemetery.
