Friday, August 02, 2013 Doris Marie Palmer Thompson, 81, of Dayton died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. Doris was born January 21, 1932 in Alto, Texas to parents Ovie Ray Palmer and Fannie Mae Bridges Palmer. She had worked as an accountant clerk for Eggelhof, Inc before retiring and was member of the Fairmont Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed sewing and cooking. She was known as the neighborhood giver, Nana and Granny to many. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 5, 2013 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Dorothy Lee Palmer and Juanita Mae Campbell, son Craig Thompson. She is survived by daughter: Linn Cloninger and Russell Long of Dayton; son: Carl Thompson and wife Karen grandchildren: Steven Ray Thompson and Amy Neichoy, Amber Marie Thompson, and Linsey Marie Cloninger: great-grandchildren: Carlee Faith Thompson and Sheridon Lee Grace; niece: Sharon Reid and her son James Aaron Reid; nephew: Bruce Campbell and his daughter Casey Campbell; numerous other family and church family.
