Doris Lucille Rogers

Doris Lucille Rogers, age 88 of Hempstead, Texas passed away Friday, September 3, 2021. She was born September 27, 1932, in Coushatta, Louisiana to parents Lonnie and Clemie Scott Bamburg who preceded her in death along with her husband, Kenneth Rogers; daughter, Amberlynn Collins; granddaughters, Andrea Stentz, Carolyn Stentz, and Lanae Averitt; and great-granddaughters, Lacey Boudreaux and Kimmalynn Smith.

Dot was born in the little town of Coushatta, Louisiana. She weighed only 2 lbs. They put her in a shoebox and placed it near a wood burning stove to keep her warm. She said that her aunts could be heard saying, ‘this poor little thing will never make it through the night,’ but she did as you can see from her brood, yes she almost made 89 years! She was so precious, sweet, special, and will be greatly missed!

Survivors include daughters, Dottie Stentz and husband Kerry, Sherry Matthieu, and Pam Wendt and husband Danny; son, Bobby Averitt; grandchildren, Dorie Hover, Dawn Maxwell, Angela Webb, Cindy Carter, Windy Delano, Daniel Wendt, Bobby Wayne Averitt, William Averitt, Meagan Rogers, Kirstin Smith, Hannah Collins, and Taylor Collins; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Emily, Lyndsi, Graci, Colby, Brendon, Blake, Landon, Cody, Kyle, Shelby, Harison, Audrey, Rian, Corben, Beth, Page, Levi, Allison, Hudson, Karlea, Brooklyn, Jacob, Dreyven, Kinleigh, Kellam, and Keiran; great-great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Troy, Adrian, Cristafer, Collin, Trip, Ziggy, Rezin, Macie, Raelea, Alley, Luke, Jagger, and Carson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Huffman Cemetery, Huffman, Texas.
