Obituary for Donald "Donnie" Green
Donald "Donnie" Green, age 60, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on April 10, 2025. Donnie was born on June 21, 1964, in Dayton, Texas, to John Howard Green and Dora Mae Anderson. A lifelong Texan, Donnie grew up in Dayton and graduated from Dayton High School.
He spent much of his career serving as a prison guard, a job that reflected his strength and dedication. Outside of work, Donnie had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures. He was a Houston Astros fan who loved to watch sports on TV. He found peace in fishing, joy in camping, and excitement in traveling, especially to zoos, museums, and historical landmarks.
Donnie had a passion for music, particularly artists like Jelly Roll and Post Malone.. His sweet tooth was legendary—he never turned down a pack of Sour Patch Kids. Donnie was known for his stubborn streak, but also for his big heart and unwavering love for his family.
A devoted father and grandfather, Donnie took pride in staying connected to his children—calling to check on them every single day. He adored time spent with his grandchildren and made lasting memories with them that will be cherished forever.
Donnie was preceded in death by his father, John H. Green, and his brother-in-law, Royce Proctor.
He is survived by his loving mother, Dora Mae Green; his children, Conner Green and wife Angelica Cheyenne, Eli Tarnow, Tricia Peterson and husband Justin, and Madison Green; his long-time partner of over 20 years, Lynn Satterwhite; sisters, Sandy Proctor and Judy McGlothlin and husband Joel; grandchildren, Jackson Peterson, Steelie Green, Storie Green, Sennett Green, Peyton Tarnow, Ryland Tarnow, and Harper Tarnow. He also leaves behind nieces, Emily Proctor, Molly McGlothlin, Katy Provenzano and husband Marc; great-niece and nephew, Maggie and Michael Provenzano; the mother of his children, Beverly Butler; as well as numerous other beloved family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. A celebration of Donnie’s life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, also at Pace Stancil. He will be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton.
Travis Thornton will officiate the service. Pallbearers include Joel McGlothlin, Marc Provenzano, Eli Tarnow, Michael Hajdik, Tyler Logan, Drake Lerma, Tryston Brock, and Murphy Green. Honorary pallbearers are David Brannon, Marc Miller, Greyson Thornton, James Wagner and Ryland Tarnow.
Donnie’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on through all who knew and loved him.
