Dolly Annette Herndon, a beloved resident of Cleveland, Texas, passed away on February 25, 2024, at the age of 88. She was born on April 6, 1935, to her loving parents Arzo Mull and Nancy Laura Grady Mull. Dolly's journey in life was marked by exceptional achievements and unwavering dedication to her community.
A stellar student, Dolly proudly served as the valedictorian of her graduating class at Cleveland High School. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Southwest Business School, where she earned her degree and laid the foundation for a successful career. As an active member of the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce and a devout attendee of both Cleveland Methodist Church and later Atascocita Methodist Church, Dolly embodied a strong sense of community and faith.
Dolly found solace in the beauty of the outdoors and cherished moments spent walking amidst nature's wonders. Above all, she treasured her role as a devoted grandparent and great-grandparent, finding immense joy in the presence of her family.
Dolly is preceded in death by her father, Arzo Mull, her mother Nancy and stepfather, Leonard Stavinoha; her cherished husband of 68 years, John Herndon Jr.; and her sister, Marlene Bacon. She is survived by her son, Randy Herndon and wife Cindy; daughter Nanette Lynch and husband Rob; grandchildren, Jennifer McMahan and husband Donnie, Chris Herndon, Kristen Herndon and husband Jason, Whitney Parrish and husband Paul, Kayla DeLange and husband Ryan; great-grandchildren, Camron and Cadie McMahan, Eli Herndon, Devon, Jordan and Emily Beaty, Sebastian, Alexa and Matt Parrish, Luca DeLange; sister-in law, JoAnn Thomas and husband Jimmy; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other cherished family members and many dear friends.
A Graveside Service to honor Dolly's memory is scheduled for Thursday, February 29th at 11:00 am in Montague Cemetery with Associate Pastor Leigh-Anne Williams of Atascocita Methodist Church officiating. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caregivers at Plantation Assisted Living in Porter and the Horizon Hospice group for their exceptional care and compassion towards Dolly during her time there.
