Dennis Wood

January 6, 1953 — January 23, 2023

Dennis Wood was born January 6, 1953 in Harris County, Texas to parents Reginald Augustus Wood and Ruby Estell (Cougthen) Wood. He passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at the age of 70.

Dennis is preceded in death by both of his parents, his proclaimed parents Dutch and Charlotte Whatley, his siblings Rosie Lee Wood, Monte Ray Wood, Mackie Lee Wood, Mary Lois White, Bennie Estella Lowery, Reginald Augustus Wood Jr., Stella Louise Laqua, Beverly Gale Pomeroy, and Gary Wayne Wood.

He is survived by his brother Ricky Lynn Wood; sister Brenda Sue LeBlanc; children Stephanie Davis and husband Jason, Melanie Harlow and husband Robert, Brandy Whisenant and husband James, Wesley Wood and fiancé Stacy, Holly Wood and wanna-be Nick; grandchildren Stephen Harlow, Stephen Davis, Connor Davis, Cheyenne Whisenant, Danielle Wood, Abigail Whisenant, Johnathan Concha, Sidney Todd Jr., Elora Dwyer, Nathan Todd, Zane Whisenant, Tabitha Todd, Charlotte Whisenant, Ivy Torres, and another Baby Wood on the way; great-grandchild Autumn Whisenant; and wife Linda Wood.

Dennis loved shrimping, fishing, barbecuing, Budweiser beer, Marlboro cigarettes, sports, and cars! He began working in the neon sign business in the ‘70s and was so proud when he eventually bought his own truck and began working for himself. Dennis was the go-to mechanic in the family and spent lots of time working on his kid’s vehicles; but the car he loved working on the most was his ’67 mustang that he rebuilt himself. Dennis was the type of man that would give you the shirt off of his back or the last dollar in his pocket if you asked him for it, he always put others before himself and sometimes that got him in trouble. There wasn’t a single day where you couldn’t find him with his garage door up, enjoying a cold Bud, and working on something; usually with friends or neighbors. Dennis loved everyone he came into contact with and will be missed by many.

Rest in Peace Daddy! We love you and miss you so much!
