Dennis Earl Steelhammer

Dennis Earl Steelhammer, age 69 of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015. He was born December 1, 1945 in Alice, Texas to parents James Sidney Steelhammer and Bertha Louise Shallert who preceded him in death along with his son-in-law Ron Harrop. Survivors include his former wife, Suzie Steelhammer; daughters, Catherine Steelhammer Jackson-Prieur and Husband Thomas “Todd” Prieur, and Monra Steelhammer Harrop; sons, William Earl Steelhammer and wife Nicole, James “Jimmy” Steelhammer and wife Jennifer; sisters, Jan Cantu, Donna Susan Jackson and Jean Yarbrough; brothers, Edward Steelhammer, Don Standley and Tom Standley; grandchildren, Kiara Steelhammer, Kelsie Steelhammer, Austin Jackson, Clayton Steelhammer, Caitlyn Jackson, Joseph Harrop, Dallas Steelhammer, Colin Steelhammer, Walker Harrop, Mikayla Johnson, Dakota Salas, Nathaniel Williams, Dennis Jordan, ‘DJ’ Steelhammer and numerous other family members and friends. Mr. Steelhammer enjoyed hunting quail, fishing, cooking, spending time with and spoiling his grandkids, he loved traveling, loved to place a bet, loved history, old westerns, and flirting. He was a member of the Marine Corps and a decorated Vietnam Vet, serving three and a half tours. He loved the simple life, humor, the beach, the ocean, and his kids. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, Texas. A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Hayman Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas. Following will be a reception held from 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at Paradise Grill off of HWY 150 and 156 right by the Coldspring Square. PACE-STANCIL FUNERAL HOME 303 E.
