David Olmos

David Olmos, 78, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on July 18, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born on February 11, 1946, in Tortugas Rayon SLP, he was the son of father, Francisco Hernandez and mother, Maria Guadalupe Olmos. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who touched the lives of many.

For the past three decades, David called Dayton home, having previously lived in Moss Hill. He dedicated many years to John Deere as a maintenance worker. Known for his love of the outdoors, David could often be found meticulously mowing the grass and tending to his garden with his unmistakable green thumb. His passions extended to the thrill of casinos and the camaraderie of Loteria games. He had a deep appreciation for music, favoring violins and Spanish melodies.

David savored simple pleasures, such as dining at Texas Roadhouse or stopping at McDonald's for his beloved #6 (McGriddle). He also enjoyed his coffee, always accompanied by pan dulce. However, nothing surpassed his joy for his wife's cooking, especially her beans and tortillas.

An ardent supporter of the Houston Astros, David relished watching baseball, particularly when his grandchildren took to the field. David was a family man and family gatherings were cherished occasions for him, as well as weekends spent with loved ones being some of his favorite moments.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Maria Guadalupe Olmos, and his grandchildren, David Allen and Valerie Traylor. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Valentina Olmos; his children Miguel and Ernestina Olmos, Maria and Tirso Hernandez, Martha and Allen Traylor, Esperanza and Josh Ramirez, Diana Olmos, and David Eduardo Olmos; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him.

A visitation will be held at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place at the same location on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. Freddie Villarreal will officiate the service, with Junior Hernandez, Andres Hernandez, Miguel Angel Olmos, Christian Ramirez, Isaac Ramirez, Joshua Ramirez, Braylon Traylor, and Rogelio Traylor serving as pallbearers. Aron Gone' and David Elias Olmos will be honorary pallbearers.

David Olmos will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his vibrant spirit, and his zest for life's simple pleasures. May he rest in peace.
