David Lloyd Johnson, Sr., 86, of Hardin, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017, in Beaumont.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2017, at the Hardin Baptist Church. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Hardin Baptist Church with burial following at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Hardin. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
David was born September 19, 1930 in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, to parents; Robert Melvin and Betty Lois Middleton Johnson, a former resident of Pineland, and has resided in Hardin for the past 52 years. He was a graduate of the Pleasant Hill High School, received his Masters in Education from Stephen F. Austin, and a veteran of the US Air Force. David was also a former 4H leader, member of the Jersey Cattle Association, Louisiana Forestry Association, and Deacon of the Hardin Baptist Church. He retired from education after serving many years as a teacher and a principal. Following retirement he spent his time in the agricultural business, especially working cattle.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Robert Glen Johnson and Trentice Van Johnson, and sister: Yvonne Rogers. He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Alice Garner Johnson of Hardin, sons: David L. Johnson, Jr. of Beaumont, Robert Johnson and wife Becky of Mont Belvieu, and Kevin Johnson and wife Stacey of Kountze, brother: Benton Johnson of Louisiana, sisters: Emily Dillard of Louisiana and Linda Scaife of Louisiana, grandchildren: Jamie Benton and husband Nick, Robert Taylor Johnson, Haley Dawn Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Jr., Kyle Johnson and wife Samantha, and Kaila Foster and husband Matt, great-grandchildren: Remington and Easton Foster, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
For those who desire, donations may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or the American Heart Association in David’s memory.
