David Joe Short, 71, of Dayton passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012.
He was born July 8, 1941 in Oklahoma City, OK to parents Mount L. and Mary B. McCullogh Short and had lived in the Dayton area since 1981. Mr. Short was owner and operator of David Short Equipment Company and was Deacon at the Grace Community Church where he truly loved his Sunday school class. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, collecting die cast cars and reading western books. He loved being with his family and friends.
Mr. Short was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 53 years: Jennie Henson Short of Dayton; his son: William D. Short of Austin; his daughter: Cheryl J. Reedy and husband Mike of LaPorte; grandchildren: Michael Reedy, II, Michelle Reedy, Zachary Short and Jacob Short; brothers: Dewey Short of Sallisaw, OK and Lynn Short of Peden, OK; sister: Gaylen Freeman Sallisaw, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton with Rev. Wayne Hardin officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation is 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
