David Barrientes, of Dayton, went to join the big meeting in the sky on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 63 years of age, with 33 years clean and sober. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 28, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with services concluding thereafter. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 at funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. David was born April 15, 1952, in Robstown, to parents; Manuel Barrientes and Matilda Zamora, was a former resident of Crosby, and has resided in Dayton for the past two and a half years. He was a migrant worker as a child and an outlaw biker until he found AA through the divine help of a judge. In sobriety he became a substance abuse counselor, working with Palmer Drug Abuse Program, Project Phoenix, and Casa del Sol in Texas. David was a loving partner in life to his wife, Kathryn, and a source of strength to his children. He sponsored and imparted his experience, strength and hope to many and will be truly missed. David touched the hearts and lives of many people everywhere he lived. David was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Rosa Barrientes and Dalia Lindsey, brother: Juan Manual Barrientes, and grandsons Tristan and Bryan Davis. He is survived by his wife of 12 years: Kathryn Sharp Barrientes of Dayton, sons: Albert Barrientes and wife Irene of Lake Jackson, Micheal Tarver and wife Virgin-nia of Sydney, Australia, Jody Tarver of Sydney, Australia, and Robert Scott and wife Jennifer of Dayton, daughter: Melissa Davis and husband Brent of Venus, 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives, and friends.
