Cynthia Stephens Jennings

October 21, 1956 — April 1, 2025

Cindy Ann Jennings, 68, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born October 21, 1956, in Livingston, Texas, to Ernest Wayne Stephens and Hollie Barnett. She was a beloved mother, nana, aunt, and friend.

Cindy enjoyed Dr. Pepper “with lots of ice”, reading, watching true crime documentaries, and keeping many plants alive. She loved her 2 cats, Bob and Sayde, her adopted 2 grand-dogs, Ranger and Jet, and her 3 great grand-dogs, Winston, Max, and Scout. She loved clean, decorated spaces and was known to rearrange furniture and décor weekly as well as vacuum at 8 am on Saturdays. Most importantly, her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and friends.

Cindy loved fiercely and genuinely. She was known for dropping whatever she was doing to help someone clean a house, babysit grandkids, be overjoyed over any gift she was given (literally anything), be a chauffeur, listen to you cry when you needed to vent, and make you laugh with a random F-bomb. She was a mom to many, filling in the gaps of whatever was needed. It was not a birthday until you got a phone call from her singing. Everyone who knew Cindy has a story they will cherish forever. From accidently bleaching hair orange, pulling on the slot machines at the Casinos, playing Yahtzee on the back porch during the summer, helping to prevent prom makeup from melting in the heat, influencing career choices, or jumping into the Galveston Bay after heart surgery, Cindy always showed up for the ones she loved.

Cindy’s faith in God helped her to overcome many obstacles in life, finding joy and strength to face any challenge with perseverance. She worked hard daily to support her family, always putting their needs first. After retirement, Cindy moved to Montgomery, Texas, to live with her son Dustin. She was able to spend the last 3 years enjoying life at a slower pace.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Wayne Stephens and Hollie Barnett, sister Angela Kay Burwick, brother Mike Stephens, daughter Cari Ann Jennings, grandson Trevor S. Jennings, and granddog Ranger.

She is survived by her son, Dustin Jennings and wife, Lindsey, daughter Heather Cain and husband, Chris, son TD Jennings and wife, Amber; grandchildren, Madison, Faith, Riley and Ellie Jennings, Brittni Jennings and Keegan and Ethan Kight, and Darren, Dillon and Maci Jennings; nieces Karen Deming, Shari Gilmore, and many other loving family members and friends.

A memorial service for Cindy will be held on Saturday, April 5th at 10 am in the Pace-Stancil Chapel.
