Cora Lorean Currie, age 87 of Kemah, Texas passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020. She was born July 1, 1932 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to parents Walter and Leahrueah Dittman who preceded her in death along with her husband, Ben Currie, Jr.; son, Maynard Owens Castoe; sisters, Grace Martin, Donetta Truitt, Alta (Tillie) Gable, Geraldine Lowe and Josephine Hays; and brothers, Walter L. Dittman, Paul Dittman and Lewis Dittman.
Cora was a woman who knew how to have a good time, whether it be rolling 6’s, playing wahoo, dancing the night away during her early years, or hooking into a big fish. She was a people watching connoisseur, and was known to enjoy a juicy hamburger, Mexican food, and the all-important margarita on the rocks. Most of all she loved her husband and her girls. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Colburn and husband Lee of Angleton, Texas, Donna McCutchen and husband Ronnie, Sr., of Talala, Oklahoma, and Veree Martens and husband Tim of Tomball, Texas; sons, Albert Castoe of Talala, Oklahoma, and Steve Currie and wife Mary of Alvin, Texas; grandchildren, Amber Tullos and wife Amy of League City, Texas, Ryan Colburn of Smithfield, Virginia, Kyle Colburn of Newport News, Virginia, Shawn Castoe and wife Heather of Raleigh, North Carolina, Ronnie McCutchen, Jr. of Talala, Oklahoma, Jinna Carrillo and husband Alex of Montgomery, Texas, Francis Bahjat and husband Keith of San Francisco, California, Scott Neal of Magnolia, Texas, Mark Crippin, Joni Yarbourgh and husband James Yarbough, Cody Crippin, and Brandy Crippin Perkins and husband Chad Perkins; great-grandchildren, Emerson Kate Greer, Brooklynn Brantner and friend Lance Walters, Duane Evenson, Gavin Evenson, Kennedy Castoe, Madelyn Castoe, Amelia Castoe, Brooke Shoemaker and husband Matt, Derek Yarbourgh and wife Rebecca, Chance Yarbourgh, Jordan Crippin, Preston Currie Perkins and Molly Perkins; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends at Paul Horton United Methodist Church, Stephens Creek, Texas on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 1:00pm – 2:00pm. Services will begin at 2:00pm, officiated by Rev. Mariann Rayne with interment to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
