Coleman King

June 3, 1926 — February 13, 2015

COLEMAN B. KING
Cherished and Beloved Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grand Father Coleman Benard King, of Cleveland, Texas, began his journey into eternal life on February 13, 2015 at the age of 88. Coleman was born June 3, 1926 in Bartlett, Texas to loving parents Sam D. King and Nell Larkin King who preceded him in death along with two sisters Rowena Laughlin & Dorothy Braun and one brother Brian King.

As a young man, Quartermaster King bravely served our country during World War II. As Quartermaster 30 SV V-6 USRN, Mr. King was stationed for active duty on the USS Kershaw, USS Randall, USS DuPage, USS Charles Carroll & the USS Superior; serving overseas during the American Area Campaign Asiatic-Pacific Area World War II Victory. Most ships of which he served were class attack transport vessels which delivered Marine troops and supplies into combat areas and performed amphibious landing exercises.

After Mr. Kings military service, he returned to Temple, Texas where as a young man he married. In Temple during 1959, he worked for Stavinoha Bros. Hardware. He later moved his family to Crockett, Texas and worked a sales territory for the Huey-Philp Hardware Co. In 1988 his family moved to Cleveland, Texas and he became Manager of Cleveland Hardware. He later worked in Cleveland as Manager of HUB Supply Hardware whose location eventually became Potez Home Center in 1994. Mr. Potez is quoted as saying "When I bought the store, Coleman came with it". Mr. King was not only an expert in helping others to make their homes stand strong with wares, he was a beloved citizen, neighbor and friend to the community of Cleveland. Mr. King attended and served as a Deacon for First Baptist ChurchCleveland, before joining Mims Baptist Church of Conroe, Tx. Mr. King officially retired from Potez Home Center in the fall of 2010, but after a brief rest period determined- that he could continue to "go to work daily if they would just let him". A retired Mr. King enjoyed the role of advisor and consultant to the many customers that came in "just to say hello" and pick his brain for advice.

Coleman B. King was blessed with a "Double Lifetime of Love" that many are not fortunate to have ever experienced. In Temple, Texas. on June 4, 1952, Coleman married his sweetheart, Ms. May Bob Holloway Williamson. Together, they set out for a lifetime of happiness; through their love and dedication, they raised and are survived by daughter Bobbie Wetherbee (Spouse Charles) of Boerne, Texas and a son,
Troy B. Williamson, II Attorney at Law, of Portland-Corpus Christi, Texas. After 38 years of marriage, Mr. King and his children survived the heartache and hardship of the untimely passing of his dear wife May Bob King.

In time, Mr. King found the strength to move forth and found that special lasting love for a second time in his lifetime, with Ms. Elizabeth Green of Cleveland, Texas. Coleman & Elizabeth were married in Cleveland, Tx. in late 1990 and celebrated the union of their lives on the majestic islands of Hawaii. Coleman and Elizabeth remained residents of Cleveland, Tx. and were proud members of Mims Baptist Church of Conroe. They looked forward with great anticipation and enthusiasm to every week that they could praise the Lord with song as members of the choir. Coleman and Elizabeth were united in a loving marriage for 25 years; a marriage that brought many additional children, grand & great grand children, along with many wonderful memories and much love to Mr. Kings life.

As important as the Lord was to Coleman, so was the concept of "Family". Mr. King was filled with joy to know and feel the love of all of his children during his lifetime and most especially during his later days and times of ill health. PAW PAW In our eyes You are a Great and Honest Man of God, you will be deeply missed; but we will know your lessons and feel your spirit, charm and sweetness in our hearts for an eternity you will always be with us. Thank You for touching our lives in such an important and special way; after Christ, you gave us the second greatest gift of all "your love".

Coleman Benard King is survived by his wife Elizabeth G. King.
