Clifford Lee Thomas, 85, of Houston, Texas, passed away on September 12, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of diverse achievements and cherished relationships. Born on October 22, 1938, in Plum Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Clifford was the son of William Howard Thomas, Jr. and Mildred Ione Rupert Thomas.

Clifford’s remarkable journey began at the tender age of eight as a golf caddy. His varied and colorful career spanned many fields, showcasing his adaptability and dedication. He was a licensed farrier, a licensed minister, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. His professional endeavors included roles as a teacher, trucking company owner, funeral director in Pennsylvania and Colorado, and, for the last twenty five years, a Safety Director for several logistics companies.

Clifford was known not just for his professional accomplishments, but also for his adventurous spirit. His life was marked by memorable experiences, including backpacking across Europe, extensive motorcycle travels across the United States and Canada, and a deep passion for canoeing and cycling. His love for life and family was steadfast, and his insights into life and love were hard-earned.

A proud Marine, Clifford carried the ethos of “Semper Fi” into every aspect of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers William Thomas and Richard Allen Thomas, daughter Terri Hainaut, and grandson Chase Swain.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Thomas; daughters Jacquelyn Thomas (spouse Bonnie Marchel) and Carol Zorzi (husband John); step-sons Daniel Sachitano and Christopher Swain (wife Shelia); son-in-law Timothy Hainaut; sister Carol McCormick, brother-in-law David Taylor (wife Karen); and grandchildren Cameron Swain, T.J. Hainaut, Caroline Hainaut, Samantha Hainaut, Shane Sachitano, and John Smith, along with numerous nephews and a niece.

Clifford Lee Thomas will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, unwavering love for his family, and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him.

At Clifford’s request, there are no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.
