Clarence Ervin Lewis was born to Lila Mae and Walter Lewis, Sr. on April 28, 1941, in Shepherd, Texas. He passed away on November 18, 2024. Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. 

Clarence graduated from Dixon High School in Shepherd. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from Vietnam, he worked as a bus driver for Rapid Transit and a truck driver for Service Transport Company. Clarence went on to be employed at Hughes Tool Company as a machinist and crane operator.

While at Rapid Transit, Clarence met Rhonda S. Sweet in 1971 in Houston, Texas, and they later wed on May 1, 1976. Clarence and Rhonda built a life together in his hometown of Shepherd. Clarence was an active member of Lake Station Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Miller Harp. He was also an active member of Temple of Faith Church under the leadership of Rev. Darryl Richardson. Clarence enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid horse lover. 

Clarence is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Rhonda, five daughters, two sons, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and four siblings. 

Services for Mr. Lewis will be held in the Pace-Stancil Chapel on Saturday, November 23rd with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and his funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Stan Lewis officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Houston National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 26th at 11:15 a.m.
