Christina Renea Varvel was born July 15, 1983 in Houston Texas, and passed January 26, 2025 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 41.
Christina was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, teacher and friend. She loved all things family, books and 90’s-2000’s sitcoms. Her love of books ranged from Harry Potter, to William Shakespeare and old English. Her love of sitcoms; Gilmore girls, F.R.I.E.N.D.S and Roseanne helped shape and played a big role in impacting her amazing personality. You could see the crazy light-heartedness of Phoebe, to Lorilei Gilmore’s character’s love for her daughters, her strong mindset and determination.
After the passing of her mother when she was 16, Chrissy helped watch over and take care of her grandmother Ruby, while pursuing her dreams of higher education. She thrived in education and worked tirelessly on bringing that love of education to her students. She was a brilliant student at Tarkington High School which is where she meet the love of her life, John Varvel. They stood by each with love and admiration for 25 years. A true story of high school sweethearts like the books she loved so much and was always reading.
After graduation, she continued to excel in her education at Sam Houston State University earning her master’s in teaching. This allowed her to follow her love of education through her days. She taught with compassion and her love of English shined through her teaching. She reached so many hearts and left a huge impact on her students.
Christina was an amazing mother to her two daughters, Elizabeth and Rose. From the best momma snuggles to the bedtime stories and movie marathons they shared together. These memories will live on in her daughter hearts forever letting them remember; they had the greatest mom ever. She loved family and was a beloved sister. From their hours of endless phone conversation to shared inside jokes. The sister bonds she had were truly special. Chrissy had great friendship with her best girl pals, she truly thought of them as family. She loved big and will be greatly missed. The things we could say about Chrissy are endless because that’s just the special kind of person she was.
Chrissy is preceded in death by her mother, Linda Sue Cordon; grandparents Ruby Fern Oldner and Robert Curtis Cordon, Boyd Jones and Dorthey Ellen Bentley.
She is survived by her loving husband John David Varvel and their two daughters Elizabeth and Rose Varvel; father Terry Jones; sisters Taylor Pacheco, Hannah Jones, and Rachel Jones; in-laws Mark and Lisa Varvel, Kristina and Chris Gallien and their daughter Mckenna Gallien.
A celebration of Christina’s life will be held on Saturday, February 1st at 2pm in the Pace-Stancil Chapel in Cleveland, Texas with Bro. Carl Williamson officiating.
