Cheryl Olenga Sackett Gooden

Cheryl Olenga Sackett Gooden, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Kingwood. Born on March 23, 1956, in Baytown, Texas, Cheryl spent her entire life in the Kenefick area, where she formed deep connections with her community and her loved ones.

 For many years, Cheryl dedicated herself to nurturing babies at a local day care, leaving a lasting impact on the families she worked with. Her compassionate spirit was evident in every aspect of her life, especially within her role as a cherished member of Simmons Bottom Assembly of God Church. She found joy in singing in the church choir, sharing her love for the Lord through music, and regularly engaging in Bible study.

 Cheryl was known for her vibrant personality, which extended to her enjoyment of socializing, playing games, and creating memorable moments with her family and friends. Above all, she treasured her time spent with her grandson, Roper Gooden, who was truly the light of her life.

 Cheryl is survived by her husband, Mike Gooden; her daughter, MyRanda Gooden, and her wife, Michelle Gooden; her beloved grandson, Roper Gooden; and her brothers, Anthony "Peewee" Buford and Ricky Estrada. She is also remembered by her sisters, Gianna Burchfield and Renee' Slater, along with numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends who were fortunate to know her.

 Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, James Ray Sackett and Mildred Ford Sackett; her son, Michael Lee Gooden; and her brother, Allen Ray Lane. While her absence leaves a profound void, her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire those who carry her memory in their hearts.

 A Celebration of Life for Cheryl Gooden will be held on February 8, 2025, at Simmons Bottom Assembly of God Church, beginning at 11:00 AM, officiated by Brother Jimmy Charles. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor and remember the remarkable life Cheryl lived.
