Charlie Bennett

Charlie Wayne Bennett, age 78 of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015. He was born at home in Raven Hill Community on September 25, 1936 to parents Mattie and Robert Bennett. Charlie loved the outdoors and spent many hours hunting and fishing. He loved gardening and shared his crops with family and friends from church. He also served in the US Navy for 4 years on a destroyer escort USS Porterfield. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mattie and Robert Bennett; brother, Robert Bennett; nephew, Chris Weinert; and son, Joe Winfrey, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Beverly James Winfrey Bennett; son, Steven Ray Winfrey; daughter, Rebecca Ann Winfrey; grandsons, Kyle Winfrey and Eli Smith; granddaughters, Katelyn Winfrey, Kelly Bulgier, and Carlie Bulgier; brothers, Tommy and wife Terri Bennett of Oakhurst, Billy and wife Evelyn Bennett of Dodge, and Curtis and wife Kathy Bennett of Dodge; sisters, Dixxie and husband IB Means of Dodge, Nelda and husband Gene Weinert of Oakhurst, and Diane and husband Rodney Bailey of Dodge; sister-in-law, Sharon Sander and husband Weldon of Creston, Iowa; lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Oakhurst Full Gospel Church, Oakhurst, Texas. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2015 at Oakhurst Full Gospel Church, Oakhurst, Texas. Interment will follow at Raven Hill Cemetery, Raven Hill, Texas.
