Charles Rogene West, 77, of Dayton, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Linney Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Charles Rogene was born January 7, 1936 in Anadarko, OK, to parents; Johnny B., Sr. and Naomi Perry West, and has resided in Dayton throughout most of his life. He was a graduate of the Dayton High School Pioneer Class, veteran of the US Army, a retired production technician for Exxon, and member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed cattle, horses, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. Mr. West was preceded in death by his father: Johnny Benjamin West, Sr., mother: Naomi Perry West, son: Charles R. “Chuck†West, Jr., sisters: Ruth Clark, Fay Latz, and Donna Holmes, brother: Johnny B. “Bo†West, Jr., and brother-in-law: Mike Dugat. He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Mary E. “Lynn†Dugat West of Dayton, daughter: Sharon Shumaker and husband Chris of Dayton, brother: Royce West and wife Barbara of LA, sister: LaVonna Brooks and husband Tommy of GA, grandchildren: Darik West, Brittani West, Zoe Shumaker, and Joy Shumaker, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
