Charles Edward Gates, 70, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017, in Houston.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Acie Cemetery in Dayton. Services are entrusted to Pace-Stancil Funeral Home of Dayton.
Charles was born May 24, 1947 in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, to parents; Ephen and Lottie Stephen Gates. He was a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Dayton for the past three years. He was a graduate of Colbert High School class of 1967, a retired operator for COMPAQ, and a member of the St. Paul AME Church of Dayton. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, and will be remembered by his kind spirit and helping others.
Mr. Gates was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Ananias Gates. He is survived by his wife: Gladys Ross Gates of Huntsville, daughters: Charlene Mitchell of Dayton, Latarah Gates Redmon and husband Troy of Dayton, Misty Teamer of Huntsville, and Roshonda Teamer of Huntsville, sons: Louis Baldwin and wife Charlotte of Dayton and Tim Teamer and wife Reva of Georgia, brother: Sherman Gates of Dayton, sisters: Johnnie Robinson of Dayton, Eliza Guidry and husband Albert of Dayton, and Marinda Lee of Houston, numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
