Charles Clinton “Si†Snyder, 99, of Liberty, TX died Monday, July 28, 2014, at his home in Liberty, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Liberty. Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Charles was born August 24, 1914 in Saint Joseph County, IN, to parents; James H. and Margaret Wolf Snyder. He and his wife, Elnora Cooper Snyder resided in Osceola, IN from their marriage in1936 thru 1983. Mr. Snyder worked at the CTS Corporation, in Elkhart, IN as a draftsman. He designed electronic components and had 15 patents as a result of his efforts. He enjoyed carpentry (he built their house), gardening, fishing, camping and travel. They drove and camped throughout the United States and visited all states, with the exception of Washington and Oregon. In 1979, he and his wife retired and started wintering in southern Texas, and by 1983 they sold their Indiana home and moved to Alamo, Texas. They lived there until they moved to Liberty, Texas in 1997. Mr. Snyder is a Past Grand Master of Mishawaka and Osceola Chapters of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Masons for 64 years and served in various offices and different committees. Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by his wife of 78 years: Elnora Cooper Snyder; parents: James and Margaret Snyder; sisters: Evelyn Rumsey and Helen Ward; daughter-in-law: Doris Snyder; and grandsons: Mark, Brian, and Mike Snyder. He is survived by brother: James H. Snyder, Jr. and wife Nancy of Mishawaka, IN; sons: Charles C. “Chuck†Snyder, Jr. of Liberty, TX, Richard D. Snyder and wife Ann of Friendswood, TX, and Edward L. Snyder and wife Lisane of New Columbia, PA; and twelve grandchildren: Sally Caffee of Acworth, GA; Scott Snyder of Lubbock, TX; Richard Snyder, Jr of Dayton, OH; Angela Griffith of Pearland, TX; Jennifer Grove of Williamsburg, VA; Julie Buffington of Friendswood, TX; Charles Snyder of Stamford, CT; Alan Snyder of Philadelphia, PA; Jennifer McCarty of Liberty, TX; Donna Joiner of Liberty, TX; Kenny Simmons of Liberty, TX; and Tommy Simmons of Lubbock, TX;. He is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren, 23 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
