Catherine Read Touchstone

Catherine Read Touchstone, 92, of Dayton passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in Baytown, Texas.

Services for Mrs. Touchstone will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Dayton. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday evening at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Mrs. Touchstone was born in Beaumont, Texas to parents William Adrian Read and Francis Emma Lightsey Read. She was a longtime resident of Beaumont, a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and studied nursing at Lamar. Catherine was co-owner with her husband Gene of Trinity Valley Tractor from 1960 until the sale of the business in 2000. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and former member of Lakata Club and Woman’s Club. Catherine enjoyed sewing, traveling, and caring for her family.

Mrs. Touchstone was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of over 70 years, L. E. “Gene” Touchstone, Sr.; brothers, W.A. Read, Jr. and Robert Read. She is survived by her children, Lamar Touchstone and wife Sharon of Dayton, Read Touchstone and wife Connie of Dayton, and Patty Wierzowiecki and husband John of Dayton; grandchildren, Stephen Touchstone, Carol Caron, Amie Touchstone, Beth DeLeon, John Wierzowiecki, Adrian Touchstone, Aaron Touchstone, Dela Pratka and Bowen Pratka; great-grandchildren, Kane, Sebastian, Mattias, Jillian, Elenor, Phillip, B.J. and Leda.; sister, Shirley Yeary of Jasper; special friend and caretaker, Patti Blackwell; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
