Carroll Davis Mize

Carroll Davis Mize, 68, of Dayton, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the Heights Baptist Church, with burial following at the Cooke Memorial Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Carroll was born March 25, 1945 in Livingston, to parents; Lou L. “L.L.” and Lela M. Smith Mize, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in Dayton for the past 23 years. He was a retired truck driver for Martin Transportation of Mt. Belvieu and former body shop manager, former member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge, and a member of Heights Baptist Church. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, and visiting with others. Mr. Mize was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Ollie May Lathan, brothers: Earl Junior Mize and Floyd Mize, and an infant brother: Willie James Mize. He is survived by his wife of 36 years: Dollie Dowdell Mize of Dayton, children: Barbara Vick and husband Dennis of Tarkington Prairie, Angelea Hales and husband Frank of Tarkington Prairie, Kristi Clark of Cleveland, Chad Mize of Beaumont, Laine Copeland and husband W. C. of Mt. Belvieu, and Danny Cupit of Huntsville, sister: Letha Faye Cox and husband Nolan of AR, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
