Calvin "Butter" Anderson Cowart

Calvin “Butter” Anderson Cowart, age 80 of Oakhurst, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022. He was born October 29, 1941, in Oakhurst, Texas to parents Joseph Benjamin Cowart and Callie Mae Caswell Cowart who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Frank, Leno, Cecil, Oran (Buggy) and Doyle Cowart; sisters, Betty Street, Ruby Cowart, Bessie Gloss, and Bertha Joplin; first wife, Jeanice Cowart; and grandson, Kelby Leon Cowart.

Survivors include his wife, Cecilia Cowart; children, Deborah Chreene and husband Roger Dale, Calvin Leon Cowart and wife Tamaria, Ann McCool and husband Ben, Tommy Runyon and wife Sonya, Sally Skelton and husband Bryan; brother, Bennie Joe Cowart and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Jessica Chreene, Teresa Chreene, Jodie Toole and husband Derek, Hobie Cowart, Ethan Cowart and wife Carolyn, Kaci McCool, Morgan McCool, Zack Fletcher, Travis Morrison, Clayton Morrison, John Runyon, Brittany Runyon, Brandon Runyon, Wyatt Runyon, Cody Bosler, Ashley Bosler, Hayley Skelton, Morris Garrett, and Erica Garrett; 23 great-grandchildren along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022, at First Baptist Church, Coldspring, Texas with funeral services starting at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Capers Cemetery, Staley, Texas.
