"Bobby" Wayne Griffin

Robert “Bobby” Wayne Griffin, 66, of Moss Hill died Friday, December 02, 2016 in Liberty.

Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton.

Bobby was a lifelong resident of Liberty County. He attended Dayton schools and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was known as Little Tex.

He previously worked as an electrician for G. E. He had a great love for his family, fishing, hunting, and golf. Bobby loved high school sports especially his beloved Broncos and was SETX sports writer for many years. He started Dayton Booster Club and the first DHS Golf Team. He was an active member of Rose Hill St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Cold Spring and he sang in the choir.

Bobby had a passion for gardening just like his mother and enjoyed sharing his beautiful mustard greens with his friends and family. He was quite the baker, making cookies, cakes and other delicious creations. He could cook 600 pork steaks at one time. He was an avid story teller, jokester, and prankster with his family enjoying it all.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Sterling Griffin; his mother, Betty Jean “Patsy” Kelley Cantin; stepfather, Red Cantin; and brother, Glen Alan Griffin. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Henscey; sons, Jimmy Griffin and wife Michelle, Jeffery Griffin, Blake Griffin and wife Melanie, Kim Cox and wife Barbara, Cory Cox; sisters, Laura Pickett and husband Carl; brother, Jimmy “Bimbo” Griffin and wife Sherry; grandchildren, Troy, Chad, Rachel, Emily, Konstantine and Killian; nieces and nephews, Logan Pickett and wife Megan, Lyndsay Burgoyne and husband Drew; Cory Pickett, Hannah Griffin Pray and husband Austin; great-nephews, Triston, Korbyn, Ryder, and great-niece, Lux; also numerous other relatives and friends.
