Bobby Joe Lunceford, 82, of Liberty went to wrangle horses in heaven on Saturday, June 17, 2017.
Visitation for Mr. Lunceford will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2017 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Liberty Church of Christ. Interment will be at Jamestown Cemetery near Mineola in Smith County.
Bobby Joe was born May 17, 1935 in Jamestown, Texas to parents, William Glennie Lunceford and Eula Belle Martin Lunceford. He graduated from Van High School in 1954. He moved to Liberty to pursue a career working in the oil field. A longtime resident of Liberty he was active in many community activities. He was a member of the Liberty-Dayton Chamber of Commerce receiving the citizen of the year in 1999. He held many offices with the Trinity Valley Exposition and received the Heritage Award. He was honored by the Liberty Masonic Lodge with the Community Builder Award. Bobby Joe was a people person and was loved by all who knew him. He loved his family, friends, and animals. He was a devoted father and grandfather. Bobby Joe was well known for his mules and wagons as they were always at Liberty County parades and other local events. Bobby Joe was a member of the Liberty Church Christ and he also enjoyed the outdoors and hunting.
Bobby Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Michael Kent Lunceford, brothers, Wilbern Lunceford and James Lunceford, sister, Charlene Weightman, step-daughter, Jade Parrish and granddaughter, Cacy Butler. He is survived by his brother, Billy Ray Lunceford; his special niece, Linda Lunceford Townsend and husband Lynn; his daughter, Sonya Lunceford Simmons and husband Danny Curtis and their daughter, Allison Simmons; his daughter, Tricia Lunceford Butler, her son, Cassidy Butler, her daughter, Candice Butler; his daughter, Becki Lunceford, her son, Cody Fatherree, her daughter, Christen Frazier; his daughter, Jeree Lunceford Franta, her daughter, Darian Franta; Michael’s daughter, Jennifer Lunceford Clark; his step-son Jimmy Lynn Kelley, Jr.
his daughters, Linsey Kelley and Amanda Harper, Jade’s daughters, Jayla Parrish and Tristen Parrish; also numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
