Billy Ray "Cowboy" Pickering, age 57 and a resident of Conroe, Texas, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. He found strength in an unwavering faith in God and contagious sense of humor. He was born December 28, 1956, in Cleveland, Texas to parents James Pickering and Dorothy Motteshard Pickering. He was preceded in death by his father James Pickering and brothers Joe Lyn and John Andrew Pickering. Survivors include his wife, Roxanne Pickering; mother Dorothy Pickering; daughter, April Fagan; sons, Hank Pickering and Joel Pickering; brothers, Robert, Richard, Gary, and Paul Pickering; grandchildren, Levi Wooten, Bryant Walker, Cody Pickering, Aaron Donnelly, Gracie Pickering, James Fagan, and Matthew Fagan; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2014, 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel with Reverend Glen Mead officiating. Interment will follow at Montague Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
