Billy Ray Herrod, age 81 of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015. He was born March 21, 1933 in San Jacinto County, Texas to parents Bill and Bessie Herrod who preceded him in death along with his wife of 48 years, Helen “Tiny” Herrod; son, Ray Herrod; grandson, Collis Bill Everitt; brother, Jason “Hillbilly” Herrod; and sister, Vera Mae Emerson. Mr. Herrod graduated Shepherd High School in 1950 then retired after 41 years of service from United Gas Pipeline. He loved fishing, hunting, and playing dominos with family and friends. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church, Shepherd, Texas. Survivors include his daughters, Sandy Everitt and husband Dan, Helenmarie Johnson and husband Patrick, and Tricia Duke and husband Donnie; daughter-in-law, Becky Herrod; sisters, Dorothy Floria and Marie Woods; brother, Doug Herrod and wife Beverly; grandchildren, Stacie Fontenot and husband Kenny, Travis Everitt and wife Renee, Candy Currie and husband Zack, Elizabeth “Erae” Atteberry and husband Allen, Sarah Stott and husband Kyle, Brandi Sievertson and husband Clayton, Jodaniel Everitt, Ethan Johnson and wife Layla, Justin Duke, Cody Everitt, Destiny Duke, Jonathon Dancaster, Tiffany Harrison and husband Justin, and Ashley Fulcher and husband Gene; great-grandchildren, Sutton and Hannah Everitt, Devin and Trevor Fontenot, Zackary, Makayla, Luke and Collis Currie, Maycie and Charlie Atteberry, Kylee Robertson, Bryce and Brendon “BR” Stott, Kason Purvis, Cohen Johnson, Dre, Kylee and Azel Fulcher, Kaylee, Remington and Oakley Harrison; numerous other relatives and friends. Preston Baker, Zack Currie and Ronald Ellisor will preside over funeral services held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Farley Chapel, Shepherd, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas.
