Billy Butcher

Billy Butcher, 82, of China passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 peacefully at home. He was born April 16, 1936 in Dayton, Texas to parents George Elwood Butcher and Pauline Silhavy Butcher.

Service for Billy will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Interment will be at Linney Cemetery in Dayton. The family will receive friends on Monday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary held at 6:00.

Billy was a lifelong resident of Dayton before moving to Beaumont in 1961. He attended Dayton schools and had worked as a Engineer Tech IV for the Texas Highway Department for 32 years. Billy resided in Bevil Oaks for 27 years where he was an active member of the volunteer fire department and city council before moving to China. His passions included refurbishing old Jeeps, tractors and cars, helping neighbors, spending quality time with his family and blazing new trails on the deer lease. He was a member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in China.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents and brother Henry Butcher; sisters, Evelyn Andress and Brenda Anglin. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nell Butcher; his children, Pamela Moses and husband Clint, Denise Scott and husband Kevin, Mark Butcher and wife Denise; grandchildren, Brandon Butcher and wife Kathleen, Matthew Moses and wife Taylar, Victoria Scott, Danielle Scott, Michael Scott, Jayce Scott, Nicole Moses, Breah Butcher, Brenah Butcher; step-grandchild, Brittany Seymour; great-grandchild, Luke Moses; step-great-grandchild, Adam Seymour; brothers, Gene Butcher and wife Lena, Frank Butcher and wife Gale, Ernest Butcher and wife Darlene; sisters, Georgia Moore and husband Leo, Ernestine Fregia and husband Nathan, and Betty Brown; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
