Billie Jeanne Alexander, age 66 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018. She was born September 23, 1951 in Dayton, Texas to parents Douglas and Florence Cherry who preceded her in death along with her father in law, L.T. Alexander; and brother in law, Larry Lynn Maier.
Billie was a graduate of Tarkington High School (1970) and SHSU (1974). She was a teacher for 31 years. She taught at Tarkington ISD for 27 years and New Waverly for 4 years and retired in May 2017. She was a member of Oak Shade Baptist Church and a member of the following clubs: Red Hat, Aggie Mom's and Line Dancing.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Tommy Alexander; sons, Josh Alexander & wife Rocio, with 3 children, Luke, Elijah, and Titus Alexander; and Seth Alexander & wife Lia; brother, Clifton Cherry & wife Kathy; sister, Mary Lou Maier; brother in law and sister in law, Rusty Barnett and wife Debbie; mother in law, Juanita Alexander; nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2018 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Oak Shade Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
Billie requested that donations be made to Brown Bag Buddy at Tarkington ISD in lieu of flowers. Checks can be made payable to Tarkington ISD, memo, Brown Bag Buddy, or Billie Alexander Memorial. Cash donations can be given to Josh, Seth, or Tommy. The funds are used for Christmas, school supplies, shoes as needed, to pay for field trips, medical expenses, and book fair for needy children.
