Betty Mae Long, age 73 and a resident of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 in Livingston, Texas. Mrs. Long was born February 02, 1940 in Alvin, Texas to parents James Earl and Myrtle Marie Ewing. She was a homemaker and had a heart full of love. She was tender hearted and deeply devoted to her church. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by both parents; grandparents, Earl Henry Williams, Myrtle Elizabeth Johnson, Alexander Ewing, and Nicole Jackson; and her grandson, Chase Ray Cotton. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Louise Cotton, sons, Johnny Earl Long and Bobby Ray Long; sisters, Diane Bridge and Francis Johnson; brothers, Jimmy Ewing and Danny Ewing; grandchildren, Dakota Long, Cassandra Cotton, and Jase Cotton; the father of her children, John Robert Long; numerous other cherished family members and treasured friends. Dr. Byron Reeves will preside over graveside services being held Wednesday, November 20, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Ryan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
