Betty Jean Butcher

Betty Jean DeBruhl Butcher, 92, of Dayton passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018. Betty was born March 22, 1926 in Raywood, Texas to parents, William and Beulah Jowers DeBruhl.

Services for Mrs. Butcher will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow at Linney Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Pace-Stancil. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Brightwell, Ivan Brightwell, Preston Wendel, Kale Rives, Dylon Smart, and Mike Rives.

Betty was a lifelong resident of Liberty County and had lived in Dayton for over 70 years where she raised her family. A devoted mother and grandmother she always loving supported her family by attending all of their activities through the years. Mrs. Butcher enjoyed sewing, traveling and being a member of the Liberty County Line Dancers. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church. She had worked at Waldrop Ford in Liberty, Trinity Valley Tractors in Dayton and retired from the City of Houston Aviation Department where she worked for over 19 years.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ivan Douglas Butcher, Sr., brother, Bill DeBruhl and sister, Elizabeth Brown. She is survived by her son, Doug Butcher; daughter, Diane Brightwell and Gary; grandchildren, Deann Rives and Mike, Buddie Smart and David, Felicia Worthy and Jim, Brian Brightwell and Wendi, Ivan Brightwell and Jennifer, and Danielle Brightwell-Wendel and Preston; great-grandchildren, Kale and Kennedy Rives, Dylon and MaKinnley Smart, Jaxson and Brazos Brightwell, Drake and Colt Brightwell, Mason, Landon, Olivia and Lillian Wendel; also numerous other relatives and friends.
